Milan Bureš Snr
He was born on 18th February 1954 in Nový Jičín district in former Czechoslovakia. After graduating from grammar school, he studied at the Faculty of Education in Ostrava (1974 – 78). He began to pay more attention to photography in the early 1970s. In the years 1984 – 86 he studied at the Institute of Fine Photography in Prague. In 1986, he started studying photography at FAMU (Filmová a televizní fakulta Akademie múzických umění v Praze ) which he interrupted in 1987 and subsequently didn’t finish. At the same time, he worked as a teacher at Alšova primary school in Kopřivnice and after a year in 1989 as its headmaster. Among other things, he introduced photography as part of an optional subject so as to pass on his experience and knowledge to the pupils. From January 2019, when he retired, he mainly deals with photography. He lived in Ostrava and Kopřivnice for a long time, and has been living with his wife Daniela since 2005 in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm. Together they have a daughter Iva and a son Milan (*1986), who is also dedicated to photography and film.
