Milan Bureš senior

Milan Bureš was born 18 February 1954 in Nový Jičín in former Czechoslovakia.

After graduating grammar school he studied in Ostrava at The Faculty of Education in 1974-1978. He started significantly dealing with the art of photography in the early seventies.

From 1984 to 1986 he studied at the Institute of Creative Photography in Prague.

In 1986 he began studies at FAMU in Prague, but didn’t finish it. At the sametime he worked as a teacher at the elementary school "Alšova" in Kopřivnice, and after 1989, was its principal where he worked until 2018. Now he only deals with photography.

He is active in cultural and social life as well as politics. In 2004 - 2010 he was a Senator of Parliament as a representative in the region of Nový Jičín.

For a long time he lived in Ostrava and Kopřivnice, and from 2005, he and his wife Daniela moved to Frenštát pod Radhoštěm. They have a daughter, Iva, and a son Milan (* 1986), who also are involved in photography.
